Supports immigrant and refugee individuals and families in attaining optimum health through relevant health education, community development and advocacy
Offers multilingual and culturally sensitive information, referral, and support services to women who are from, or who trace their ancestry to, any of the countries of South Asia (Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bhutan). Undertakes advocacy, public education, and awareness work on issues that affect South Asian women such as violence, racism, immigration, and unemployment. Provides a safe, supportive, and confidential place for South Asian women who are experiencing male and family violence.
Provides culturally-sensitive services to immigrant and visible minority women, children, and families who are experiencing family violence. Bilingual/bicultural workers provide individual and group counselling women in situations of family violence prior to, during, and after their stay in a transition house; supportive services for interactions with the legal and social systems; and volunteer training to develop organizational and leadership skills. Also provides supportive counselling and referral for women who are victims of sexual assault or adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse.
Supports Chinese and South Asian women in taking greater control of their lives. Provides cultural and language specific services. These community determined strategies are developed and delivered by immigrant women.

Created in Richmond, British Columbia in 1973, CHIMO Crisis Services now serves over 10,000 individuals and families each year from different cultural backgrounds, age groups, family lifestyles, and economic situations. CHIMO provides diverse services from community building to prevention, from individual crisis support to advocacy, and from peer support to education. CHIMO engages in collaborative community planning and develops innovative resources to address emerging needs.
