Mandate: To provide shelter for women in crisis as well as abused women and children.

Tamitik Status of Women Association

Provides programs and services focused on intervention and prevention of violence and poverty issues in the community. Responsible for following programs : Outreach Worker/ Supportive Counsellor, Transition House - Dunmore Place, Discovering Healthy Relationships Counsellor, Stopping the Violence Counsellor, Anti-Poverty Programs.

Haliman-Norfolk Women's Shelter

Haldimand & Norfolk Women's Sevices is a charitable, non-profit corporation governed by an elected Board of Directors. Programs and services are funded by the Ministry of Community and Social Services, Ministry of Child & Youth Services and the Ministry of Health. Project Grants have been made availible through the Ontario Trillium Foundation and the Ministry of the Attorney General. Our many programs and services are enhanced by the generous support of community donations.


In addition to the services and programs for women who have experienced abuse and children who witness abuse, we educate and advocate for social, cultural and political change for women's equality and human rights.

WRAP - Women Recovering From Abuse Program
Provides group therapy to build resources, helping women develop new ways of engaging with others, managing difficult situations/safety, understanding feelings, thoughts and behaviours, developing and strengthening safe coping strategies. (See Details)
Nuluaq Project
Works to improve the coordination of abuse prevention services and resources in Inuit communities. Conducts research, provides a national Inuit database for abuse prevention and women's shelters and shares information with the public. (See Details)
FREDA Centre for Research on Violence against Women and Children
Facilitates and conducts research on violence against women and children in order to raise awareness and effect policy. The Centre works with community groups, frontline service providers, and policy-makers. Centre for Research on Violence Against Women and Children
Promotes the development of community-centred, action research on violence against women and children. Facilitates the cooperation of individuals, groups and institutions representing the diversity of the community to pursue research questions and training opportunities to understand and prevent abuse.
