Eating Disorder Program York County Hospital

This is a bi-regional disordered eating/ eating disorder program for youth aged 13-19. There is a day treatment program for anorexics and severe bulimics along with an out patient program for bulimics. The program is based on a feminist therapy framework where clients are encouraged to participate in their assessment and treatment, appropriate to their developmental level and treatment needs. Referrals must come from the client's physician. Participation in either of the programs requires that the client is medically stable and at or above 80% of their ideal body weight. The program takes a multidisciplinary team approach for adolescent eating disorder treatment which includes psychiatry, medicine, nutrition, child and youth work, social work, psychology, nursing, teaching. Additional services include: counselling, clinical/ health care services, day services, health promotion, information provision and referral, in house publishers, research, support groups/ peer support and training.
