Presents the discussion and recommendations from a round table held with mothers raising children with disabilities as key informants. The themes explored were: how the different roles taken on by the women raising children with disabilities impact on their personal health and well-being; the policies that affect the physical and mental health of women; perspectives on the responsiveness of service providers and the impact on women's health and well-being; and the status of informal community support and their impact on women's health status. The round table was held in Edmonton, AB in October 2000 in conjunction with the 6th International Congress on the Inclusion of Children with Disabilities and the Canadian Association for Community Living Family Conference. (See Details)

Agenda for action: policy directions for children with disabilities and families
Response to the federal and provincial/territorial government's National Children's Agenda(NCA). Concern arose because attempts at creating the NCA did not properly address the circumstances of children with disabilies. Presents research findings and policy direction developed by the Roehler Institute that responds to these concerns. Suggests the NCA needs more specific policy goals, and suggests guidelines for future NCA policy development.

Four discussion papers on new reproductive technologies
Presents the concerns of the Canadian Disabilty Rights Council and DAWN Canada on the topic of reproductive technologies. These discussion papers were produced to be presented to the Royal Commission on New Reproductive Technologies, as a tool to foster discussion about what they regard as troublesome aspects of reproductive technology. Both groups share the view that reproductive technologies do not enhance the equality of disabled persons, and could in fact be viewed as a eugenic tool.
